POLICY
MMC
is a signatory to the Australian Council for International development
(ACFID) Code of Conduct, a voluntary, self-regulatory industry code.
The code represents the active commitment of overseas aid agencies to
conduct their activities with integrity and accountablitity.
It is a requirement of a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct that in
all fundraising activities initiated or authorized by the organisation
that its practices are consistent with the Privacy Act (1988) set up to
protect donors' rights.
Consistent with the Privacy Act of 1988, MMC's Privacy Policy (2002)
states that: "MMC respects the privacy and confidentiality of (our)
sponsors and those (we) assist overseas."
MMC collects personal information about its donors in order to
acknowledge their donation, to express gratitude on behalf of those whom
it assists overseas and to inform them where their donation is going.
MMC also respects the wishes and privacy of those individuals who wish
to remain anonymous and do not require acknowledgement of their donation.
Through
appeals, the distribution of a quarterly newsletter mail-out, and the
Annual Report (on the website), MMC seeks to provide information about
the quality of MMC practices and current operations, to satisfy
supporters and other individuals.
