FUNDRAISING GUIDELINES
The Marist Mission Centre is a signatory to the Code of Conduct of the
Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), an
independent national association of Australian non-government
development organisations (NGDOs) working in the field of international
development.
ACFID administers a Code of Conduct committing members to high
standards of integrity and accountability.
FUNDRAISING
GUIDELINES
MMC complies with the Code requirements ensuring that fundraising
solicitations are truthful and accurately describe the identity and
purpose of MMC, including the Australian Business Number (ABN) and
address.
Through appeals and the distribution of a quarterly newsletter, MMC
seeks to provide information about MMC practices and current
operations, to satisfy donors and other individuals as to the quality
of MMC’s practices and current operations.
The MMC Annual Report includes a full disclosure of funds collected and
disbursed together with a description of current projects supported by
MMC.
Notices are posted in Marist parish bulletins of upcoming annual
appeals.
MMC Newsletters and the Annual Report are published on the
MMC website.
In addition, and in compliance with the Code, MMC does not exaggerate
or mislead what a donor’s response will achieve or the extent of the
need. Solicitations do not leave potential donors
feeling that their failure to respond to the request will have greater
consequences than the reality of the situation.
Solicitations accurately portray intended recipients, their situations
and the potential solutions. There is no use of misleading
photographs, nor any other communication which would tend to create a
false impression or misunderstanding.
Furthermore MMC has written guidelines on the use of images of intended
recipients including preserving the dignity of the person being
photographed, informing the person of the use of the photograph and
declaring the origin of the photograph.
