MMC CHILD
PROTECTION POLICY
The
MMC Child Protection Policy (2009) articulates AusAID’s zero tolerance
approach to child abuse. It is informed by the 2008 Australian
Government AusAID, Child Protection Policy.
As a signatory to the Code of Conduct of the Australian Council for
International Development (ACFID), MMC is required to ‘have policies
and procedures to promote the safety and wellbeing of all children
accessing their services and programs, particularly to minimise the
risk of abuse of children.’
MMC Child Protection Policy provides a framework for managing and
reducing risks of child abuse by persons engaged in delivering MMC aid
program activities.
As part of the formal agreements with MMC beneficiaries there are clear
procedures for addressing child protection. All communication between
in-country partners includes reporting and monitoring mechanisms to
address the issue of the beneficiaries’ responsibility for child
protection.
In line with the guiding principles of sharing responsibility for child
protection, any partners, contractors, associates or consultants must
meet AusAIDs new child protection compliance standards.
